There’s a realm we must experience in this journey of faith— the realm of exercise— exercising the nature of Christ which we profess— and this is probably the most sensitive of our walk with God.
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14
It is very usual to fall under the anointing while in a prophetic gathering. It is very possible to receive the gift of speaking in tongues together with the interpretation (After all, it’s God’s gift to us). Yes, it is very much seen to lift our hands in a worship service and declare the supremacy of God. Yes, all these and many others are possible.
Beyond all these manifestations as a result of the impartation from God, there is more and that is in terms of how well we are able to exercise God’s nature to the outside world— in our daily endeavours.
So many of us are ignorant of the truths about God’s word but, we want to know a thousand verses of the Bible offhand for the sake of impressing others. Many of us have bitterness somewhere in the corner of our hearts towards our neighbour, yet, we would appear in church with fake smiles genuflecting and bowing our heads towards our pastors. Many of us are able to speak in heavenly language while in the company of fellow Christians but, we find it difficult to speak a word of healing into our sick bodies. Many of us spend quality time engaging self development programmes, reading the Bible, attending seminars, listening to ministrations but, the effects of these things are not evident in our lives.
Good for some such that, they are able to recognise this issue but, some of us live in oblivion of the rottening eggs in our lives.
You need power.
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8
You see, there’s practically nothing we can do if we are not empowered by the Spirit. Yes, the dictates of our carnal senses might appear to be working out at the start of it but, the word of the Lord is settled: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)
In fact, Jesus Christ emphasised the coming of the Holy Spirit as something crucial when he was about leaving the earth: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” John 14:16
So, you are not to base your living on the usual things. Instead, seek to know God better so that your lifestyle as a whole would reflect your profession of Christ. And, to do this, you need power and you get that when the Holy Ghost is come upon you.
Nevertheless, we have a Father who is faithful to His word as He said, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 This is one truth many Christians have not come to understand.
God is saying to us, “My child, you can’t do this thing by yourself. Come, let me help you.” But, we are either deaf to Him or disobedient by wanting to do it our lives way.
If only we can come to point we lay down everything at His feet and sincerely declare, “Father, I have tried doing it my way. I have allowed my carnal senses to dictate to me. I have not done it right. Please, help me.”
God is ever willing to help us live lives beyond the usual things. He is willing to hold our hands along the path of life such that, His true nature of righteousness is revealed in every sphere that we can influence.
You just tell it to Him today. He’ll help you.
